For this class, we’re doing a Game Jam using the coding program, Scratch. A Game Jam is where programmers get together in groups and try to make a video game in one session. We’ll be using the Raspberry Pi computer to make games from the ground up. Even if you’ve never coded a day in your life, we’ll teach you the basics of writing code using drag-and-drop blocks. You’ll get tips on game design and work with other attendees to make an awesome video game.

What will be provided?

  • Raspberry Pi
  • Instructions and tips
  • Copies of all the games made that day

What you should bring:

  • Your imagination
  • Laptop or mobile device–anything you can use to access the internet
  • Your own Raspberry Pi, if you have one (not required)

Try familiarizing yourself with the Scratch coding program by going to scratch.mit.edu.
