Virtual Polar Express Night

All aboard! Where are we going, you ask? “Why, to the North Pole, of course!” Witness the magic of Christmas as we take a ride on the virtual Polar Express hosted by Lebanon Public Library’s Teen Advisory Group. While listening to the classic holiday story, children will be able to live out the experiences of the characters in the book with the help of a grownup. Join us at 6:00 on December 9th via Zoom. Wear your pajamas, snuggle up with a blanket, and bring your imagination on this unforgettable virtual journey!

Grownups, because this is a virtual event, we need your help to make this event as magical as possible for your little one(s). There are special surprises throughout the event that involve a little bit of grownup participation and prep work. You will need to pick up a Polar Express kit from the Library before the event to prepare. Stop by the technology center between 11/29 and 12/9 and let them know you are picking up your Polar Express kit.

If you are unable to pick up a kit and need to get your own supplies, the kit contains:

  • Polar Express ticket (print this attachment)
  • Hot chocolate packet
  • Mini marshmallows packet
  • 2 Hershey’s kisses
  • Jingle bell in small gift bag with note from Santa (print this attachment)
  • Winter toy

During the story, the facilitator will cue grownups when to give each of the special surprises from the kit. As the characters in the book board the Polar Express, the facilitator will cue grownups to distribute tickets to the little ones. As the characters drink hot chocolate and eat candy with nougat centers, the facilitator will cue grownups to start preparing the hot chocolate. We will take a 10 minute break for everyone to enjoy their Hershey’s kisses and hot chocolate with marshmallows while they listen to songs from The Polar Express soundtrack. While waiting to meet Santa, a TAG member will instruct grownups when to give out the holiday toy. At the end of the story when the character opens a gift and finds a jingle bell inside, the facilitator will cue grownups to give the gift bag to the little ones.
